Ken Horner Principal – LLB (Auckland)
Ken is a third generation principal of Halliwells. He has an LLB from Auckland University working at Halliwells since 1976. His areas of expertise include financing, conveyancing, commercial, forestry ventures and administration of Trusts and Estates.
Preston Bulfin – Consultant – LLM (Cant) A.S.I.A
Preston joined the firm in 1967. Preston graduated from Canterbury University with a Master of Laws. Additional qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia and he is a Fellow of the Securities Institute of Australasia. Preston has accumulated and extensive experience in commercial, company and property law and financial lending and transactions. Preston has special expertise in Maori land issues.
Lochlainn Basford - Staff Solicitor - LLB/BA (Otago)
Lochie joined the firm in 2021. Originally from South Canterbury, Lochie graduated from Otago University with an LLB/BA. Lochie is excited to pursue his legal career in Taranaki and aims to provide cost-effective no fuss service to his clients.
Lochie has a keen interest in cooking, art, swimming and hiking.
Beth Low –
Beth is our most experienced Legal Executive. She is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives – the membership of which comprises only the most senior and able Registered Legal Executives. Beth has special expertise in the areas of Maori land law and Rural Property.
Beth has a lifetime interest in swimming and is involved with Hawera Swimming Club and Taranaki swimming Centre as well as teaching at all levels.
Jenna Dombroski –
Jenna is Hawera born-and-bred and has been at Halliwells since December 2005. Jenna qualified as a Legal Executive in 2011 and is an accomplished staff member with an aptitude for a variety of legal proceedings.
Jenna is a keen sports-person who regularly plays netball and tennis, runs and cycles.
Nadia Kennett -
Nadia grew up in Hawera and has worked in the legal field since leaving school in 2011. She began as a legal secretary, achieving Legal Executive qualifications in 2018. Nadia brings a wealth of skills to our conveyancing team.
Nadia enjoys time at home with her husband and young son.
Tanya Wishnowsky -
Tanya is Hawera born-and-bred. After a period of living and working overseas returned to Hawera to raise a family. Tanya resumed her legal career after a working at Hawera Hospital for 16 years to contribute to our busy practice.
Tanya enjoys time with her family, knitting and craft, and travel.
Devan Hanham - Estates Administration Assistant
Devan joined Halliwells after a shift south from the Waikato region to be closer to her family. Devan has past experience working in aged care facilities and brings a depth of understanding and compassion to her role.
Devan enjoys tramping and cooking.
Alex Baylis - Law Clerk
Alex joined Halliwells in September 2019 as an office junior to assist with the changing environment and increasing work in the office. Alex contributes to a range of legal support work.
Alex is a keen photographer and is refining her skills in Photoshop.
Samantha Turner - Estates Manager
Samantha is the estates manager at Halliwells for the past twelve years. She started with the firm in 1999 and became the administration manager for Halliwells Securities Limited (now Midlands Mortgage Trust).
Samantha is a passionate member of Hawera Repertory and is an accomplished stage actor and director
Lilian Mutsaers - Office Administrator
Lilian joined Halliwells in September 2017 in a fixed term position and quickly progressed into the administration role. Lilian has many years of experience in clothing production and tertiary education - now turning her extensive skills to legal practice administration.
Lilian enjoys creating with fabric and is a keen gardener.
Rachel Lyon - Receptionist
Rachel is the person you are most likely to speak with when you call us or come to the office - her friendly nature and willingness to help make her the perfect front person for the firm.
Rachel joined Halliwells after a period of time living in Australia, returning to Taranaki to be closer to family.
